The biggest problem in research isn’t data - it’s unclear thinking!

Fueling Research Capabilities
At Lloyd Institute of Management & Technology, the students and I came together for a Student Development Program, where we brainstormed on a foundational topic: “Research Problem Structuring & Conceptual Framework Development.”
What I’ve consistently observed while working with researchers, academicians, and institutions is this:
Most research doesn’t fail because of lack of effort…
It struggles because the foundation isn’t structured clearly.
During the session, we explored how to move from broad ideas to structured, researchable models that:
Translating abstract topics into clear research problems
Developing strong research objectives & hypotheses
Building conceptual frameworks that actually make sense
Understanding the difference between theory building vs theory testing
We also went deeper into the technical backbone of research:
- Research Proposal Development
- Variables
- Construct operationalization
- Reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha)
- Validity- Content, Construct, Convergent & Discriminant
- Common questionnaire design errors
- Why pilot studies are not optional, but essential
What made this session truly meaningful was the questions, practical discussions, and a shared intent to make research more structured, relevant, and impactful.
